We have already stated repeatedly that we accept the existence of Israel within the 1967 borders as a political reality even if we do not approve its moral legitimacy.

Israel on the other hand has never recognised the right of a Palestinian state to exist even under the PA, despite the PA recognising Israel’s right to exist. All Israel has recognised is the legitimacy of the Palestine Liberation Organisation as the sole representative of the Palestinian people.

Whether conspiracy or folk rumour, the story of helicopter assisted Taliban operations is perplexing.

Persistent accounts of western forces in Afghanistan using their helicopters to ferry Taleban fighters, strongly denied by the military, is feeding mistrust of the forces that are supposed to be bringing order to the country.

 

Scottish coal mining

Yesterday police began evicting the Mainshill Solidarity Camp, which for the past 6 months has been preventing the development of a new open pit coal mine, near the Scottish town of Douglas.

After some technical difficulties that brought the former site down for a short time, the phoenix has again risen from the ashes.
